People everywhere are talking about “the cloud”, as if it is somehow something (1) new and (2) intrinsically exciting. It really is neither of those things. In the IT world, software as a service (SaaS) has been around since the 1960’s when organisations bought the use of mainframe software on a time-sharing basis.

Halo Post Production, winner of the 2016 Best Post Facility Award from Broadcast magazine, has boosted its picture post functionality with PixStor software-defined storage from Pixit Media - powered by NetApp E series storage. The system was implemented and installed on-site by ERA, specialists in image-centric IT solutions for the creative industries. The new installation is particularly aimed at enhancing halo’s 4k capabilities.

Hall 2 B59, IBC 2016, Amsterdam:  TMD, the leading provider of asset management systems for digital and physical assets, and its distribution partner ERA, have entered into a joint venture to create a new cloud subscription service called Coeus.

Coeus (pronounced 'kee-yos') is hosted in ERA’s dedicated data centre in the UK and offers a comprehensive range of asset management applications which run on TMD’s Mediaflex-UMS platform.  The first service offered is for cloud archiving and provides an intuitive web client to allow users to manage, archive and restore their media content.  The service can readily scale from systems for small workgroups to larger enterprises. The result is a fully managed digital content library which is media aware and maintained by a media specialist company.

IBC 2016, Amsterdam: ERA together with TMD, a leading provider of media management systems for digital and physical assets, will be demonstrating OnPoint, a simple and intuitive PAM solution for Creative Services and Post Houses at IBC - Hall 2 Stand B59, Amsterdam RAI, 9-13 September. OnPoint is part of TMD’s extended, innovative range of media services products, which can be used as a standalone workflow solution for a workgroup, combined for a cost-effective approach to media management or configured for a complete end-to-end enterprise solution as part of a Mediaflex® Unified Media Services (UMS) platform.

ERA Ltd announced today the appointment of Gareth Hodkinson as Senior Sales Consultant.
